Jan 5 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Ring in New Year at our January First Friday! We have an amazing artist from Homer, Alaska, music by The Rock Bottom Stompers and great eats for you here at Trax Outdoor Center.

Artist Bio:
M’fanwy Dean is an Artist and Graphic Designer in Homer, Alaska. Born in 1992 in Spruce Pine, North Carolina M’fanwy grew up surrounded by art and animals in a family of Artists, Gardeners, and Sculptors. Aside from 7 months in the summer of ’16 spent in Portland, OR, she has spent the last 17 years living on a farmstead in Homer, Alaska.
During the past two years she has combined her love of storytelling, illustration, and woodcarving. While working in a variety of mediums, her main focus is hand carving intricate details into inked wood panels to create fantastical and illustrative images. Her work has been on display at local galleries, and gift shops across the state, with her piece “Breaching Whale” being selected for publication in the international juried art annual: “Infected by Art: volume 5”
She currently lives in a small cabin in Homer, more than half of which is taken up by studio space with a clear view of the mountains and Kachemak Bay. You can stay updated on her process and new works by visiting her website or following her on instagram:

February First Friday at TRAX “Makers and Mountains”
Feb 2 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Great eats, jamming tunes with the Dry Cabin String Band and beautiful art! This February we will be featuring three local artists. Becca Rorabough, Klara Maisch, and Nicole Baldwin will be displaying their works in the Kahuna Studio. Becca is a hardcore cross country skier vying for an Olympic position who also wows us with her passion for creating acrylic and watercolor landscapes. You’ll see some of her work on stickers, buffs and Besh Cup t-shirts around the state. Klara is a downhill ski enthusiast and outdoor adventurer creating amazing painting and prints in her spare time. While studying art at the University of Alaska, she gained an appreciation for the natural environment and its strong influence in shaping her artistic aesthetic, personal philosophy and world view. Nicole Baldwin is a custom woodworker with Arctic Design Co. that handcrafts wood art for homes and businesses alike. Her mountain wall art spans the realms of simplistic and straight ahead modern and rustic decor.
